The Director is the person that orchestrates the innovation efforts. It’s one thing to brainstorm and come up with creative ideas. However, someone has to wear the role of making sure everything comes together. Someone has to get in the drivers seat and take the passengers to the destination. My sister, Debbie, has taken on this role for Expression. We have artist, poets, and members of the team that use their gifts to create an amazing event. Without someone to give clear direction, encourage the team, and map things out, we would have utter chaos. We’ve also have various individuals on our launch team that have stepped into the role of Director at other times. Here’s what I’ve learned: Someone has to be the director. Never leave a meeting without identifying someone who can be the point person for the project. Even if you don’t, take note of the person who rises to the occasion as the director. That person may be the leader you’ve been asking God for.
