Dafnette and I went to vist Grace Presbyterian Church in Washington DC this past Sunday afternoon. After service, we ran into a friend named Collette on the way to the subway station. Now how often does that happen? Right in the middle of the city! After talking with her, we headed to the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop. After entering the station, we were stopped by a young man named John who was at the church. He said, “You guys were at church, right?” We said, “Yeah!” We talked with him for a moment. He then asked us if we were looking for a church home. I told him that we were planting a church. He then inquired about the emphasis of the church. I quoted our mission statement and gave him a brief run down of our upcoming outreach initiatives. I also told him that we were doing a poetry event at Mayorga. He then said, “Wait! The Bridge?” I said, “YEAH!” I was blown away that he had even heard about the church! Apparently, he was invited to and attended the first Expression. I am excited to know that we are beginning to develop a presence in the community. I’m not sure where all of this is going to lead. My prayer is that God will take the little that we do and multiply them into something great for His kingdom and renown.
