We had another awesome time at Expression on May 25th. I was surprised by the attendance! I wasn’t sure how many people would actually come out. I was expecting a major dip for two reasons: 1) It was Memorial Day weekend and 2) It wasn’t on a Saturday night, like our first one. It’s sort of like taking a TV program that followed American Idol and moving it to another night. Will the audience actually follow? Needless to say, the attendance was still high (probably even more than last time) and some by passers decided to hang around. We’ve never done a head count, even though we should. From the onset, we decided not to measure our “win” by attendance. A “win” for us is collecting names for our database and connecting with those who attend. Again, we accomplished our win! I echo Andy Stanley in saying, “if you don’t clarify the win, your team will define it in their own terms.” We had a lot more open mic sign-ups this time. We’ll have to work on tightening the flow. The team is encouraged. The word is continuing to spread about the event through newspapers ads, website postings, community calendars, postcards, and word of mouth. One of our launch team members began inviting one of her coworkers to Expression, only to find out that her coworker already new about it! To God be all the glory…
