Dafnette and I are beginning to discuss where we wish to go for our vacation this year. We went to Puerto Rico last year summer. We had a blast. We found a great deal through Cheap Caribbean. For me, the highlight of our trip was not relaxing on the sandy beaches. It was our two visits to El Yunque rainforest. El Yunque is the largest rainforest in the Caribbean filled with tropical trees and water falls. Many of you already know that I’m in love with nature and the outdoors. I was like a baby in a candy store. We walked along some of the trails and took a swim in a few of the rivers. We found the water to be surprisingly clean and crystal clear.
By the way, we all need to get away on a regular basis. One of the greatest temptations leaders face is exchanging much needed rest for more activity and progress. I encourage every leader to establish a healthy work-rest rhythm. Establish times when you work hard and times when you play hard. Here is the rhythm I try to keep in my life: 1) Daily Downtown, 2) Weekly Rest Day, 3) Quarterly Get-Away, and 4) Yearly Vacation
Music is another one of my loves. I enjoyed the sounds of salsa and reggaeton that permeated throughout the island. I fell in love with this song while I was there. We heard the song everywhere! The lyrics are in Spanish…of course. I tried translating them on a Spanish-English translation website. The translation was not quite legible, yet I didn’t see anything crazy in the lyrics. Therefore, you can listen with a clear conscious.
